CRAFT SHOW: Vincents Promotions presents crafters from West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland to sell pottery, florals, candles, woodwork, paintings, dolls and more during the show this weekend in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. 120 booths are open from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Mary 9, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Convention Center. SELECTED: Two Putnam Countians -- Joshua Spence of Alpha Innovations of Hurricane and Drew Laskowski, FamilyCare Health Centers of Scott Depot -- were among five individuals from Putnam, Cabell and Wayne counties chosen to be among the 56 to be part of the Leadership West Virginia Class of 2025. The seven-month program includes an educational and experience-based curriculum exploring key issues, geography and industry successes and challenges. FILM: The third of the Classic Films Series is presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Alban Arts Center, 65 Olde Main Plaza, St. Albans, West Virginia. "Citizen Kane" is co-sponsored by Mix 100.9 and 102.3. Tickets are $10 online or $15 at door. Popcorn and drinks are available for $1
FLIPPING: Jonah Dillon, pastor at Valley View Freewill Baptist Church in Hurricane, West Virginia, stood up to his part of a recent deal. He said if 30 or more children attended a service at the church, that he would do a cartwheel. And ... the kids did it. And ... the pastor emptied his pockets and "flipped" in front of those in attendance on that particular day in April.
MUSICAL: "Menopause The Musical 2: Cruising Through 'The Change,'" sequel to the smash-hit, "Menopause: The Musical," takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä's Clay Center. Available tickets are $60.35 to $70.

JEEPERS: It's coming to Hurricane, West Virginia -- the second annual Jeepers Invade Hurricane Show N Shine event featuring vendors, games and raffles takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Putnam County Bank Loan Office Lot, 300 Hurricane Creek Road.
AWARDED: Capt. (retired) Darin Virag, firefighter with Hurricane Fire and Rescue and instructor at Putnam Career and Technical Center, was recently honored for his dedication to career and technical education by being presented the State of West Virginia Legislative Citation by Delegate Kathie Hess Crouse. The citation was awarded as Captain Virag received one of three Career and Technical Educators of the Year in the nation at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference last summer. One of hundreds of nominations received from West Virginia, he was named the West Virginia Public Broadcasting's March 2025 ABOVE AND BEYOND Teacher Award recipient and surprised during his recent firefighting class when Jamie Bero, his nominator, and CD Caldwell, PCTC principal, attended. He also has coached multiple West Virginia SkillsUSA medalists in the firefighting and emergency medical technical disciplines and 2022 National Models of Excellence Gold Medalists. Benjamin Shumaker and Jamie Bero, 2024 West Virginia Gold Medalists in firefighting in high school and college divisions and firefighters at Hurricane Fire and Rescue, accompanied the captain to the presentation.
