The Capital City will host the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships next week, from Tuesday to May 19. Road closures will be in effect from Sunday to May 19. The races will take place across the city, centered around Haddad Riverfront Park on Kanawha Boulevard.
Here are the general road closures. ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä officials have provided a more detailed breakdown, including parking instructions, that is updated at ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉäWV.gov/TrafficInformation.
Closure times are approximate depending on how fast the races finish.
Kanawha Boulevard from Capitol Street to Clendenin Street will be closed at 7 a.m. Sunday through May 19. This is the only closure for Sunday and Monday.
From Wednesday to Friday, Mary C. Snow Elementary School will need to be accessed via Second Avenue and Florida Street instead of Kanawha Boulevard.

Tuesday and Wednesday
The cycling time trial race Tuesday and Wednesday takes place on Kanawha Boulevard. The event starts at 1 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The following interstate entrances/exits will be closed both days:
Interstate 64 West/Interstate 77 North Exit 97 (Kanawha Boulevard/Midland Trail)
Onramp to Interstate 77 South/Interstate 64 East from Kanawha Boulevard near Daniel Boone Park
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Clendenin Street to Stockton Street and Capitol Street to Daniel Boone Park.
Only the right lane of Kanawha Boulevard westbound from Clendenin Street to Pennsylvania Avenue will be open to traffic. East of downtown, Kanawha Boulevard's westbound lanes will also be open from Wertz Avenue to Brooks Street.
Tuesday is also West Virginia's primary election day. Polls are open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Three voting precincts are affected by the race. Kanawha County has nine early voting sites open through May 11.
These ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä precincts have alternate entry instructions on Election Day.
Mary C. Snow Elementary School: Enter and exit via Second Avenue and Florida Street instead of Kanawha Boulevard.
Terrace Park East: Enter via the westbound lane of Kanawha Boulevard rather than the riverside lane, or enter via California Avenue to Washington Street East to Michigan Avenue. Exit via Veazy Street to Washington Street.
Carroll Terrace: Enter via the westbound lane of Kanawha Boulevard rather than the riverside lane. Or enter via Virginia Street. Exit via Virginia Street.

The downtown criterium race starts at 6:30 p.m. each day. Due to the high speed of the race, closures will be in place along the route, which makes a loop between Court Street and Hale Street, stretching from Kanawha Boulevard to Lee Street.
There are no interstate exit or onramp closures these days.
From 9 a.m. to noon, rolling/partial closures will be in place downtown for course preparation.

Lee Street from Court Street to Summers Street
Summers Street from Quarrier Street to Lee Street
Quarrier Street from Hale Street to Summers Street

Anyone driving across the race route will need to do so before the road closures are in place. Crosswalks will allow pedestrians to cross the race route.

The road race follows a 13-mile loop around the city, stretching from South Hills into the Hillcrest area. The races start at 7 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

The following closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday:
Kanawha Boulevard from Clendenin Street to Wertz Avenue
Greenbrier Street (northbound side) from Kanawha Boulevard to Oakridge Drive
A rolling closure on Wertz Avenue and Oakridge Drive for parts of race route
Truslow Street, Virginia Street, Court Street (northbound lanes), Lee Street, Summers Street, Quarrier Street, Brooks Street and Dickson Street on the race route
A rolling closure on the Bridge Road and Loudon Heights Road portions of the race route will be in effect 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
The WVSSAC State High School Track Meet at Laidley Field Saturday can be accessed from Interstate 64 east/Interstate 77 south via the Greenbrier Street exit and Interstate 64 west/Interstate 77 north via Leon Sullivan Way. Participants will leave the event via Elizabeth Street.
