Spring Hill Cemetery changes plan, will continue allowing artificial flowers

Commission members cited litter and environmental concerns at the cemetery, located at 1555 Farnsworth Drive, ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä.

In a statement, Larry Ford, superintendent at Spring Hill Cemetery Park and Arboretum, said the decision to continue allowing artificial flowers came after feedback from community members and discussions with staff.

“The Commission will continue working on revisions to our policies to ensure the Cemetery remains clean and aesthetically pleasing to our visitors,� Ford said in a statement. “Any policy changes moving forward [will] be inclusive of artificial and real flowers. We expect to have those revisions made later this summer.�

ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced the change to the City Council on Monday night.

• $180,000 for a new dump truck for the Street Department
• $70,813 to upgrade HVAC at city-owned GoMart Ballpark
• $54,200 for renewing the contract for human resources timekeeping software for police and fire
