Mia Davis, Lydia Davis and Allison Williams combined for six hits to help Riverside defeat Capital 13-1 on Monday in high school softball.
Each of the three batters had two hits with Williams getting a double. She and Lydia Davis had an RBI while Mia Davis batted in two.
Haylee Mullins added two hits as well including a home run and two RBIs. Starr Hudnall led the team with three RBIs while McKinley Clark added an RBI double.
Faithanna Hall led Capital with two of the Cougars’ five hits and batted in the only run for her team. Jadan Bishop, Kathryn Crowder and Amiya Robinson each had a hit for Capital.
WINFIELD SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER: The Generals hosted prep softball games against Shady Spring and Scott on Saturday.
In a 10-0, five-inning win over the Tigers, Emeri Nelson allowed one hit and struck out two while Winfield smacked 11 hits.
Evie Loyd had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Caraline Dunn also had two hits, including a triple and an RBI. Kenlie Zigmond had two singles and an RBI.
Brooklyn Cole and Rylee McClellan each had two RBIs to lead the Generals.
In the 3-1 win over Scott, Cole had a two-run double in the contest to power the Generals (13-4).
Zigmond also had an RBI single.
Dunn had a hit and Loyd led the way with a pair of singles.
Baseball
RIPLEY 9, NITRO 0: Brady McVay was perfect at the plate, going 4 for 4 to lead the Vikings to a prep baseball victory over the Wildcats at Nitro High School on Saturday.
McVay had three singles, a double, scored a run and drove in a run to help Ripley (13-2) to win its fifth straight game. Parker Keller paced Ripley with three RBIs while also getting one of the Vikings’ 11 hits.
Bryson Casto and Landon Meadows each had two hits and an RBI. Kyler Doss added a hit while Eli Phalen had a triple. Peyton Keller had an RBI.
Nitro was led at the plate by Lleyton Marie, who was 3 for 3. Sam Smith added a hit as well to give the Wildcats four hits in the game.
The loss dropped Nitro to 3-9 on the year.
