The White House says there will be a round-the-clock presence of local and federal law enforcement officers in the nation's capital. The declaration follows President Donald Trump’s unprecedented announcement that his administration would take over the D.C police department and dispatch the National Guard for at least a month. The White House says there were 45 arrests in the city Wednesday night. They included 29 arrests of people living in the country illegally. Officials say over 1,650 people are now participating in the law enforcement operation. While the National Guard will be able to temporarily detain people while assisting law enforcement, its troops will not have the power of arrest,
