PIPESTEM, W.Va. -- The kids are back in school, but summer isn't over just yet.
For families looking for a final hot-weather "hurrah" before autumn creeps in, Pipestem State Park might be just the ticket. Pipestem's Adventure Lake and Family Whitewater Experience will remain open until Labor Day.
Adventure Lake offers giant inflatables, splash zones and a sandy beach, while the Family Whitewater Experience gives families the chance to cool off while paddling the scenic headwater of the New River on a guided trip suitable for all ages.
Another way to cool off is to feel the breeze on Pipestem Peaks Zipline Tours, which are in full swing and will continue offering high-flying rides over the Bluestone Gorge until the end of October. Guests can soar more than 250 feet above the river on a series of breathtaking lines while enjoying bird's-eye views of the West Virginia mountains.
“This is the perfect chance to pack in those last adventures before school starts,†Michael Buechler, CEO at Pipestem Adventures, said in a news release. “Whether it’s bouncing on inflatables at the lake, splashing through the rapids, or zipping high above the trees, Pipestem is the place to end summer on a high note.â€
