Town Hall: "Building Bridges Town Hall," a town hall on WV's future, will be held at the Woman's Club of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, 1600 Virginia St., E. on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will be a nonpartisan, moderated Q & A session with elected officials and members of the public, organized by the Kanawha County Democratic Executive Committee and Democratic Women.
Majestic Mountains Needle Arts: Anyone interested in using a needle to create hand stitched items is encouraged to attend MMNA meetings. Members include beginning stitchers to accomplished artists specializing in a wide variety of needlework. MMNA meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Dunbar Public Library at 301 12th St. in Dunbar. Members and visitors are invited to gather as early as 5 p.m. to visit or enjoy open stitching prior to the meeting. Civic Chorus: The Hurricane Civic Chorus invites music lovers to join them for the fall season. Beginning with an Open House on Aug. 26, the HCC will meet every Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Memorial UMC (2848 Putnam Avenue in Hurricane). Men and women 15 years old and older are welcome to attend. Directed by Dr. Ilse Long, the HCC sings a wide variety of music, welcomes all singers without requiring auditions, and performs two to three concerts a year. Girls' Night Out: Tickets are now on sale for the first Girls Night Out: Returning to Our Roots event, set for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the Hale Street Center. Weekly Walks/Runs: Spring Hill Cemetery Park and Arboretum is hosting weekly educational walks and exercise sessions through the end of October. “Walk with a View†takes place Mondays at 9 a.m., offering a guided stroll through ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä history, decorative monuments, landscape features, and notable trees and shrubs. (Note: No walks on Sept. 2, Sept. 30, or Oct. 14.) On Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., a walk/run group meets for a more fitness-focused outing. Participants are welcome to walk, jog, or run a 5K on one of the flattest courses the cemetery allows. All activities begin at the Mausoleum/Office Administration Building, 1555 Farnsworth Drive.
