- EERC Senior Program: The East End Resource Center provides free transportation for seniors to attend activities at the Roosevelt Neighborhood Center, 502 Ruffner Ave. in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Activities include arts and crafts, ceramics, jewelry making, information seminars, bingo, and more. A free lunch is provided. The PAAC Partnership of African American Churches will be available to administer COVID-19 boosters and testing and flu shots from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Blood pressure and glucose tests are also available to the public. - Festival of Lights Hayrides: Free hayrides to view the St. Albans Festival of Lights will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants should meet in the parking lot of St. Albans High School. The Festival of Lights will open to vehicular traffic from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
Thursday, Nov. 23
- Drumstick Dash 5K: The 12th annual Union Mission Drumstick Dash 5K will begin at 9 a.m. at Haddad Riverfront Park in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. The registration fee is $35 and, for runners/walkers 10 and younger, $15. Registration and more information are available at runsignup.com.
- Commode Bowl: The 75th Commode Bowl football game between the Riverside Rats and the Hillside Rams will be played at the Dunbar Middle School field in Dunbar. The parade will begin at noon in the Ollie’s parking lot at Dunbar Plaza, with line-up getting underway at 11:30 a.m. The game will begin at 1 p.m. Game admission is a donation of $5 per person or two nonperishable food items for local pantries. - Holly Jolly Brawley: Holly Jolly Brawley activities will start at noon and continue through Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, in downtown ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. Activities will include live music, Santa on Capitol Street from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, a Christmas tree lighting at City Center at 7 p.m. Friday, and a Holiday Market of vendors both days. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. each day.
- Friday Night Jam: Ruff Cut Country will perform at the Friday Night Jam at the Elk River Community and Education Center, 1058 Main St. in Elkview, beginning at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. The center’s thrift store will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Concessions are available. - ‘Mary’: Mark Scarpelli and Dan Kehde’s Christmas rock opera, “Mary,” will be performed at 7 p.m. at the Elk City Playhouse, 218 Washington St., W., Elk City (ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä). Other “Mary” performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 25 and 30 and Dec. 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 26 and Dec. 3. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. - Hot Diggity Dog 5K: A free, timed event, the 2023 Hot Diggity Dog 5K will start at 9 a.m. at St. Albans High School, 2100 Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans. - Hillbreed Coat/Toy Drive: The fifth annual Hillbreed Family Memorial Coat and Toy Drive will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tinney Lane and Sissonville Drive in Sissonville. Phil Chapman of The Sons of Bluegrass will perform. The drive will accept donations of new, unwrapped coats, gloves, mittens, socks, and toys for children ages 3 to 14. Donations will be distributed to youths who attend Sissonville and Flinn elementary schools and area day care centers. Monetary, tax-deductible donations to the coat and toy drive can be made at Wesbanco’s Sissonville branch. Checks should be made payable to GSDC Coat & Toy Drive.
- Small Business Saturday: Yuletide in the Park’s Small Business Saturday will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Valley Park Conference Center at Valley Park in Hurricane. More than 50 vendors, including local crafters, artisans and other small businesses, will participate. Admission is free.

- S.C. Ribbon Cutting: A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Back 2 Life Chiropractic, 4008 MacCorkle Ave., S.W., in South ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. The event is open to the public.
