Hill, who represented Kanawha County on the airport board for 32 years, was not reappointed to the governing entity by the Kanawha County Commission when his term expired in early June. Also not reappointed at that time were former West Virginia Adjutant General Allen Tackett, who served as the airport board's construction committee chairman, coal operator Andrew Jordon, and retired McJunkin Corporation CEO Bernie Wehrle, all long-serving members.
"These gentlemen have been a tremendous asset to the airport board," Kanawha County Commission President Ben Salango said late last month. "Ultimately, their appointments expired and the commission decided to appoint a few new members to the board."
Last month, the Kanawha County Commission signed orders naming Booth Goodwin, Paul Saluja, Tristan Leavitt and Kyle Mork to replace the outgoing Kanawha members, and Gov. Patrick Morrisey appointed state Tourism Commissioner Chelsea Ruby to fill a vacant state position on the board.
Goodwin is a ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä lawyer, former U.S. Attorney and the husband of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. Saluja is a ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä immigration attorney, while Leavitt is a ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä attorney and House of Delegates member, and Mork is CEO of Greylock Energy in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä.
"I love seeing the new faces on the board and look forward to working together," Goldman, a 12-year board member, said shortly after he was elected chairman.
Other appointments
Also elected airport board officers on Wednesday were Lisa Pack of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, vice-chair; Dr. Lewis Whaley of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, secretary, and Mara Boggs, president and CEO of the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Area Alliance, vice-secretary.
Newly appointed board member Mork was named to chair the airport board's construction committee, while Pack will replace Goldman as chair of the finance committee.
