Atlantic League baseball: Ducks hold off Dirty Birds, 8-5

Pike drove in four runs and homered, Kohlwey doubled twice and Town tripled. Johnson knocked in a pair.

Benjamin Blackwell belted four hits for ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä (20-20), which had nine singles among its 11 hits. Chad Sedio and Alsander Womack each had two safeties.

Womack drove in two runs. Blackwell scored twice.

The Dirty Birds got the potential tying run to the plate in the ninth after Sedio walked and Womack singled ahead of Zach Daniels. But the Ducks’ Peyton Williams got him to fly out to right to end it.

Juan Hillman, the first of five Long Island pitchers, got the win, scattering five runs on eight hits through five frames. He struck out seven Dirty Birds and walked two.

Williams got a save.

Jonh Henriquez took the decision for ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, yielding eight runs, all earned, on 10 hits in five innings. He had four strikeouts and one walk.
