A mighty, merry melange of rare marionettes, provided by a Fayette County collector and businessman, will be on display at the Mega Christmas Market in Smithers on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The stringed puppets are part of a collection by Winfield Murdock of Characterwerks, an art store and theatrical supply company located in Boomer.
Taking place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Gateway Center at 2 Greyhound Lane, the Mega Christmas Market will also feature local vendors selling arts, crafts, gifts, holiday decorations, and food.
In the spirit of the season, Santa Claus will meet and greet Mega Market shoppers from 1 to 2 p.m. during the event, followed by West Virginia artist Bernie Wilke at 2:30 p.m. Wilke will officially open a 100-foot-long mural he completed on the exterior of the Gateway Center recently with the help of local students and other community volunteers.
Christmas Mega Market parking and admission will be free.
