The Heisman Trophy, awarded annually to the nation’s top college football player, will be on public display at Moses Nissan in St. Albans through Saturday.
The Heisman was unveiled Thursday during a small celebration. On Saturday, Moses Nissan will host a family-fun event featuring free food, inflatables for children and giveaways, according to sales associate Aric Taylor. Â
First awarded in 1935 by the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City, the Heisman is one of the most recognized awards in sports, each year honoring an outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.
Legendary winners have gone on to make history in college and professional football.
There have been two Mountain State connections to the Heisman Trophy. In 1988, West Virginia University quarterback Major Harris finished third in voting for the honor. In 1997, Marshall Thundering Herd wide receiver Randy Moss also finished third for the award.
