LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Lexington went ahead of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä on a home run on Tuesday. And the Legends broke it open with another one.
Lexington belted three round-trippers in a 10-3 victory in an Atlantic League series opener at Legends Field.
The Legends (27-25) outscored the Dirty Birds 7-2 from the sixth inning on in knocking off their rival for the seventh time in 13 meetings this season.
Andy Atwood’s two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning put Lexington ahead to stay at 2-1. JT Riddle clubbed a three-run shot in the sixth as the Legends began their closing kick.
Riddle, Dylan Rock, Brian Fuentes and Jerry Huntzinger each had two hits for Lexington. Riddle and Atwood each drove in three runs. Rock joined Riddle and Atwood in going deep.
Patrick Wicklander got the win for the Legends, scattering eight hits over six innings and yielding two earned runs. He had nine strikeouts and one walk.
Alsander Womack had three hits for the Dirty Birds (25-27). Tyler Hill supplied two hits, one of which was a homer. Womack knocked a three-bagger.
Jonh Henriquez took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 frames. He fanned 11 Legends and walked two.
The series is set to continue Wednesday at 11 a.m.
