After postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates are finally set for West Virginia’s first-ever Lego festival.
The BrickUniverse Lego Fan Festival will take place at the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Coliseum and Convention Center on June 12 and 13. The event is building on Lego’s popularity and ingenuity with attractions all centered around the plastic building blocks.
At past events, the BrickUniverse team has witnessed hundreds of Lego fans show up to enjoy live Lego builds, meet professional Lego artists and see stunning Lego creations.
The festival will be following West Virginia COVID-19 guidelines for festivals and events. There will be time sessions to help with crowd control and management as well as limited capacity. In addition, there will be larger event spaces with larger aisles for better social distancing. All event changes due to COVID-19 are subject to change and will be taken with guidance from state government and health officials.
BrickUniverse will bring renowned professional Lego artists from around the world to ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. The artists who will be displaying at the festival include San Diego-based Jonathan Lopes, Chicago-based Rocco Buttliere, Dallas-based Lia Chan and Cleveland-based E.J. Bocan III. They will attend the festival and available to talk to attendees about their lives as professional Lego artists. More professional Lego artists who will be at the show will be announced at a later date.
BrickUniverse attractions coming to the fan festival include:
• Lego City: Massive Lego City creations built by top Lego artists.
• Lego Retail: Several specialized merchants will sell Lego merchandise, mini figures, custom accessories and other items.
• Lego Spaceships: Out-of-this-world Lego NASA creations built by Lia Chan will be on display.
• The World in Bricks: More than 50 world landmarks built in Lego by Rocco Buttliere will be displayed.
• Brick Super-Heroes and Villains: Several creations will depict everyone’s favorite heroes and villains in Lego, including Batman, the Joker, Wonder Woman, Iron Man and Captain America.
Tickets are on sale. Due to the limited capacity, they are expected to fully sell out, so early booking is advised. Tickets are $14.99 online. They are available at www.brickuniverse.com/westvirginia.
