The Ben Franklin Career Center in Dunbar is accepting enrollments for several of its adult technical training classes.
The upcoming courses include:
Diesel Mechanic
This evening program begins in January, entailing 675 hours of training, with classes from 3 to 9 p.m. weekdays. Another evening class will be offered in August.
Automotive Technician AST
These classes will begin in February, with a second offering in November. The 840-hour classes meet from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Certified Welder
A 900-hour Certified Welder course will start in February and meet from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays. Another course will be held in November.
Electrical Technician
This 11-month, 1,350-hour class will begin in July. Classes meet from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
HVAC Technician
Beginning in August, the HVAC Technician course is held in the evenings (3:30 to 8:45 p.m. weekdays). It is a 910-hour course.
Practical Nursing
Starting in August, this 12-month-long course (1,350 hours) meets from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Phlebotomy Technician
These classes are offered as an evening/day, part-time course. The 225-hour program is 11 weeks in length. Students spend two nights a week in class (65 hours) and four weeks in clinical rotations during the day.
Commercial Driving
Commercial Driving classes are offered every six weeks at the Ben Franklin Career Center. They are six weeks in length, meeting from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
