With all that ahead for shoppers in South ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, the mayor, for one, is excited.
“The vibe is amazing,†Mayor Frank Mullens said on Thursday as vendors prepared their stands. “I’ve been here almost 42 years. This is probably the most exciting ribbon cutting that I’ve been involved with in all that time. People have really gravitiated to this project like I wouldn’t have imagined.â€
In a news release sent earlier Thursday, Mullens added: “This is another great addition enhancing the quality of life here in South ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä. We are also excited to promote West Virginia farmers and crafters in our own backyard.â€
The general manager of one of the vendors, Gritt’s Farm of Buffalo, Putnam County, is grateful for the city’s help.
“The [City of South ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä’s] willingness to make this happen is a positive thing,†Brad Gritt said while repainting produce stands while his 12-year-old Brittany spaniel, Niko, laid beside him. “I think [the Farmers Market] is good for the community, just to add another location to the area.â€
