A 20-year-old man was killed on ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä's East End Tuesday night, according to a media release from the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Police Department.
Around 10:45 p.m., officers found Jaiden Deamphis Weekes, 20, of ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, lying in an alley at the eastern end of the 1500 block of Lewis Street with multiple gunshot wounds. Weekes was transported to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A police investigation found that Weekes was walking toward the front of a residence in the 1500 block of Lewis Street when he brandished a firearm and started shooting at the residence. A person inside the residence returned gunfire and fatally struck Weekes.
CPD Lt. Tony Hazelett said that as of 1 p.m. Wednesday, no has been charged or was in custody in the incident, but that there is no threat to the public. The case has been referred to the Kanawha County Prosecutor's Office. No other information is available at this time.
This is the sixth reported homicide in Kanawha County and fourth in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä in 2025.
