KCSO: Man fatally shot by 17-year-old in Dunbar early Sunday morning

KCSO detectives and Dunbar Police officers responded around 5 a.m. Sunday to a house in the 400 block of 16th Street. They found Bausley Gwinn-Bowles, of Dunbar, dead inside the residence.

Detectives determined a 17-year-old shot Gwinn-Bowles inside the home. Then the teen attempted suicide by shooting himself, according to the news release. The teen was transported to CAMC General Hospital in critical condition. He has improved, but remains in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

Several other juveniles were at the house when the shooting occurred. No one else was injured.

No charges have been filed. This is the 10th reported homicide in Kanawha County in 2025.
