Area roundup: Dirty Birds waste strong pitching outing in 5-0 loss

High Point’s Ben Wereski and Gabe Klobosits limited the Dirty Birds (18-26 second half, 48-59 overall) to four hits.

Wereski fanned eight ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä hitters in six shutout frames, yielding three hits and one walk. Klobosits gave up one hit in three innings of work, with two walks and four punchouts.

Despite being saddled with the loss, Dirty Birds starter Jamison Hill was sterling in his own right, striking out 11 Rockers and walking none. He allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings.

Zach Daniels had two hits for ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä.

Evan Edwards and Aidan Brewer produced two hits apiece for High Point (24-20 second half, 65-42 overall). Brewer scored two runs and drove in two.

Brewer and Edwards each went deep.
