Montgomery bridge work starts Monday

Expected to continue through spring 2023, work on the structure will include structural repairs to the existing bridge and ramp bridges, replacement of the bridge across U.S. 60, bridge deck overlays, roadway signing and lighting upgrades, zone cleaning and painting of steel structures, increasing bridge sidewalk railing heights and making upgrades to navigational lighting.

Traffic on the bridge, which was constructed in 1956, will alternate one-lane traffic during the work.

“WVDOH expresses their apologies for the inconvenience this may cause to citizens and guests to the area,� WVDOH officials said in an agency release. “Motorists are asked to observe all traffic control signs and devices and use caution while traveling through the work zone.�

May 31, 2023 is the projected completion date, although WVDOH officials said this is subject to change.
