Two City of Nitro firefighters have passed certain skills tests, elevating their statuses as fireman.
Firefighter Chase Petry tested and passed his three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship test. The Nitro firefighter spent more than 6,000 hours over that period in training to become a journeymen firefighter.
NFD Firefighter Russell Miller tested and passed his six-month probationary test.
“This is a huge accomplishment for both Petry and Miller and a milestone in any firefighter’s career and moves the Nitro Fire Department forward in keeping the community safe,†said Nitro Fire Department Chief Casey Mathes in a release.
Members of the St. Albans Studio of Dance were scheduled to take part in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 24 in New York City. Dancers scheduled to participate included Katie Walker, Cait Henson, Lilly Hall, Adriana Lemaster, and Danika Quinn. SASD dancer Sarah Fleck also attended, under the direction of Amy Trent.
Dancing With The Stars 2023 entrants have been named by the United Way of Central West Virginia’s second annual fundraiser, to take place Friday, May 5, 2023 at the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Coliseum and Convention Center.
The six competing couples will be: Dr. Christy Robinson, Capital City Pediatrics, and Will Robinson, Steptoe & Johnson; Dr. Michelle Foster, The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, and Carl Chadband, Huntington Bank; Gina Marini, WCHS-TV 8, and Gordon Chin; Megan Hannah, West Virginia American Water Company, and Tim O’Neal, Dow; Ashton Bias Harrell, Lyne Ranson Law Offices, and Josh McGrath, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Central; and Tori Takubo, Thomas Health, and Justin Broyles, Broyles Jewelers.
