New firemen control a blaze that was set off by the fire department for training purposes. A group of old houses in the 300 block of North Rand Street were scheduled for demolition in the area where the water company will build (urban renewal). The fire department got permission to use three large two-story frame dwellings for training. A total of 28 new firemen have been added to the department this year.
