Two people are dead and two others are in "critical condition" following a Sunday morning crash on Interstate 77 in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, according to Lt. Tony Hazelett of the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Police Department.
The vehicle — according to a news release from the CPD — was traveling south on Interstate 77 near mile marker 100 when it struck a concrete barrier "leaving the roadway and landing below." The vehicle came to rest near the Elk River on property owned or operated by the Martin Marietta ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Yard, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., according to the release.
The one-vehicle accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m., according to Metro 911.
Hazelett confirmed there were four occupants in the vehicle, a white Dodge Caravan with West Virginia registration. The vehicle, which showed heavy damage, sat upright on the Interstate 64 westbound lanes Sunday morning after being recovered from the ground below. It is unclear how it got there.
