The victims have been identified in Saturday's shooting near Miami, along Cabin Creek in the Upper Kanawha Valley.
A call for a shooting came in to Metro 911 around 1:20 a.m. The caller reported finding her son with a gunshot wound on the front porch of their house, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrived within seven minutes, according to the release. Two men were found at the scene, fatally shot. Charles Anthony Moles, 33, was on the front porch of a house on Geneva Street. His father, William Charles Moles, 50, was on the front lawn.Â
"Preliminary findings indicate that the two deceased individuals, who lived at the residence, were father and son," according to a Saturday news release. "Early investigative information suggests that during a domestic argument, possibly fueled by alcohol, the father shot his son before turning the gun on himself."
"Following the completion of the investigation and autopsy reports,"Â the KCSO said in an updated news release on Wednesday, "investigators have confirmed that this incident remains classified as a murder-suicide, and no suspicious circumstances surrounded the case."
The release continues: "Detectives were unable to determine the exact cause of the argument or why it escalated to such a tragic outcome."
This is the seventh homicide in Kanawha County in 2025.
