Gov. Patrick Morrisey has signed into law bills that have drawn concern over how they will change state mine oversight.

Morrisey signed into law Friday Senate Bills 883 and 942, which had attracted criticism from the United Mine Workers of America union. SB 942 repeals state standards for diesel-powered equipment in mines. SB 883 places mine inspector appointment authority solely in the hands of the state mine inspection office director.
