NFL Hall of Famer and Kanawha County native Randy Moss has completed cancer treatment.
Atrium Health in North Carolina shared the news on social media Thursday, the same day Moss appeared on "Good Morning America" to discuss his diagnosis and treatment journey.
Atrium Health shared a video of Moss' "major milestone" — ringing the bell at Atrium Health Levine Cancer in Charlotte to signify his treatment for bile duct cancer was finished.
"Throughout a journey filled with challenges, Randy met each moment with the same grit and determination that defined his legendary career," the hospital wrote. "We’re honored to have walked alongside Randy and his family during this fight against bile duct cancer and even more proud to cheer him on as he shared his inspiring story on Good Morning America."
Moss took a leave of absence from ESPN in December 2024 after undergoing surgery for cancer. He said at the time that a cancerous mass was found in his bile duct, between his pancreas and liver, the Associated Press wrote. He said he had surgery to put a stent in his liver on Thanksgiving and later had a six-hour procedure to remove the cancer. He also said he would undergo radiation and chemotherapy.
"I just think that when you live your life, you know, a certain type of way of, you know, eating right, taking care of your health, and all of a sudden you get diagnosed with cancer ... I was overwhelmed," Moss told "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts in an interview that aired Thursday on "GMA." "It hit like a ton of bricks."
Atrium's post called Moss' strength inspiring.
“I want to thank everybody at this hospital for welcoming me to be a part of their family,†Moss said in the post.
