A semitruck has fallen off Interstate 64/77 in downtown ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, coming to rest in the 600 block of Summers Street.
The incident occurred at about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to Metro 911 reports.
ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Fire Department officials on the scene said the truck was carrying metal items, some of which may still be strewn on at least one eastbound lane of the overhead roadway, along with spilled fuel.
ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Fire Department officials said that power lines are down in the area of the wreck and debris, including loose metal items the truck was carrying, are on the ground in the area of the wreck.
A Metro 911 supervisor said that all lanes of Interstate 64/77 in the area of mile marker 100 — where the truck left the roadway — are currently open.
There are reports that one person has been extricated from the semitruck, but there is no word on the person's condition or if there were other victims. There is also no word yet on the cause of the crash.
ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä police, fire and EMS are on the scene, according to Metro 911.
