The east- and southbound lanes of Interstate 64/77, respectively, reopened at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday after a semitruck fell off the roadway in downtown ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä early Wednesday morning, coming to rest in the 600 block of Summers Street.
Two people, a passenger and the driver of the truck, were transported to the hospital "in serious condition," according to Lt. Tony Hazelett of the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Police Department.
The incident occurred at about 5:45 a.m., according to Metro 911 reports.
ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Fire Department officials on the scene said the truck was carrying metal items. CFD officials on the scene said power lines are down in the area of the wreck. Debris, including loose metal items the truck was carrying, are on the ground in the area of the wreck. The vehicle came to rest in a lot used for West Virginia Department of Transportation equipment.

A Metro 911 supervisor said all lanes of Interstate 64/77 just west of mile marker 100 — where the truck left the roadway — are currently open.
There is no word yet on the identities of the victims or the cause of the crash.
